Unfortunately the state of Illinois devotes the majority of tax dollars to Chicago and metropolitan areas leaving minimum funding for parks in southern Illinois! Pyramid Park is grown up with brush and weeds, roads are rough, and much of the park is closed for part of each year. Not a recommended destination for anyone from out of town as there's not much to do and the scenery is nothing close to it's former glory when the park was first opened and there was available funding!
Beautiful land. Great hunting out here. The terrain isn't real rough so it's mostly easy walking.
I went there to watch the Solar Eclipse and didn't have time to explore the park. It looks like a good place for most outdoor activities. I would definitely go back when in the area again.
